Metro CareRing Volunteers needed Click on Read More to see the volunteer opportunities ... Front Desk Workers: Help greet people, obtain basic information and answer the phone. It is fast-paced, but also very rewarding.Counselors: Meet with clients, evaluate their needs, and - most often - listen. They determine which services Metro CareRing can offer and refer people to other agencies for services that we cannot offer. Training is provided and a staff person is always available for reference. Pantry Workers: Fill sacks with food and it is truly a way to link the heart and hands - most pantry workers find great satisfaction hearing "thank you" from grateful people when they receive the food sacks. Truck Volunteers: Can either drive the truck for regular donation pick-ups or support a truck driver with lifting. These volunteers are especially needed on holidays, so full-time staff can have a holiday. Mentoring: Metro CareRing and Jewish Family Services are working together to provide individuals and families with mentor teams to support them and prevent homelessness. For more information, e-mail Liesl Pyle, MSW, Hope Program Director, or call at 303-860-7200 x3641. Special Volunteers: Help with everything - current needs include advocacy volunteers, computers/technology assistance, public relations/marketing, computer training, grant writing, janitorial assistance, and more. Please let us know if you have a special skill you would like to offer! Volunteer shifts are available at Metro CareRing during our service hours, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm Monday through Friday, Tuesday evenings from 5:30 - 8:30 pm, and at Ansar Pantry on Saturdays from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. (Ansar Pantry is located at 1480 Lima Street in Aurora.) For more information on volunteer opportunities with Metro CareRing, e-mail Brad Wood or call at 303-860-7200 x3699. |
